In 2002, Lucy Postins was looking for a healthier way to feed her Rhodesian Ridgeback, Mosi, who was suffering from food allergies. With a background in pet nutrition, she began crafting her own recipe using minimally processed dehydrated ingredients. Not only did Mosi’s allergies improve, but all his dog park friends were soon asking for samples – and The Honest Kitchen was born.

Fast forward thirteen years, The Honest Kitchen has expanded from Lucy’s kitchen and distributes across the US and Canada. They are still committed to creating an all natural human-grade pet food using dehydrated whole foods. Their process of dehydration gently removes only the moisture and retains most natural nutrients found in raw, whole foods. Less heat and energy is used to create the foods and its compact form means less fossil fuel goes into transporting it.
